Ashburn fireworks are awesome! And easy! We picked up Trevor and Mr. Dave at 8:20, were seated in a perfect viewing location by 8:45, and absolutely dazzled by the fireworks at 9:15. We arrived home at 10pm after dropping off Trevor and his Dad. Who needs the Washington Mall?!?
Andy was as excited and fearless around the fireworks as Trevor was apprehensive. Much to my chagrin, Cory and Andy picked out a few small fireworks to set off at home on their way home from swim lessons on Thursday evening. When they set them off after dinner last night, they also set off an hour-long running of Andy's mouth about the sounds, the lights, the coolness, the likeness, etc. of the fireworks. I am not exagerrating about the hour... we only managed a break for 2 minutes because we challenged him to not say a word for the whole ride to Trevor's house, and Andy doesn't like to pass up a challenge. As soon as the wheels hit Trevor's driveway, there was an outpouring of pent-up thoughts related to the festivities. July 4th was definitely a big hit for Andy!
We had a great and relaxing day before the evening festivities. Cory and Andy played all day, while I ran around for shopping (for interview clothes for a Tuesday meeting) and lunch with Miss Jodi. We had our traditional July 4th dinner at Wings. What a great and relaxing hometown holiday.
